One of the best ways to reach your customers is through email marketing. The problem with this, though, is that people are often hesitant to give out their personal information on a website for fear that it will be sold or used in some other way. However, there are many easy ways to collect emails so they can’t be traced back and you’ll get them on your site every time they visit.
This blog post will go over how you can collect emails from visitors without compromising their privacy.
Step 1:
Create an opt-in form on the homepage of your website. You should also make sure that it is visible when someone loads the page; this means don’t put it at the bottom of a long article!
What is an opt-in form?
It’s a way for people to easily subscribe to your email list. Ideally, this form would be short and concise, asking for the person’s name and email address. You should also give them an incentive or benefit by offering some free information in return. How do you get their email addresses? How did they find your website? Does it tell them that it is okay to send them emails?
- Place social media buttons on the opt-in form as well – if someone wants to follow you on Twitter or Facebook, then let them click through there instead of having to type out those long URLs.
- Make sure that the opt-in box says exactly how often you will be sending emails out – once every week? Once every month? How many times? How often is too much? You want to be able to give people an idea of what they are getting themselves into before they sign up.
- Offer the opt-in form on some landing pages. Landing pages are designed for a specific purpose, so in this case, it should be focused solely on getting people to sign up for your email list.
- If you have a specific offer that is strong, then you should also add this landing page to your subscriber marketing automation software. These will help you determine what type of content and offers are most effective at getting people to convert into subscribers.
Step 2:
Ask for their email address before they leave the site. You could include something like “If you would like more information about our products or services please enter your email below.” Make sure not to offer anything in return for entering their email address, such as discounts or merchandise.
Step 3:
Instead of asking for an email address, try offering something in return if they enter their email. You could offer a free eBook about something that your company specializes in or are knowledgeable about.
Step 4:
Create a newsletter that is informative and engaging. Make the emails fun and personable – you don’t want them to feel like they’re getting an advertisement in their inbox every day.
How do you do that?
You can ask open-ended questions, find out what your subscribers are interested in, and try to create content around it.
Step 5:
Make the content on your website and in your emails relatable, interesting, and valuable. If people feel like your emails are just advertisements or promotional material, they will unsubscribe.
Step 6:
Make sure that you have a ” designed for subscribers ” page on the website that has your most recent blog posts. This will keep your site fresh and exciting to visit while reminding people that you exist! Not everyone bounces off of the first page, so this is where they could end up if they are still looking for more information.
Step 7:
Use Facebook ads to make sure that you’re targeting people who are likely to be interested in your company and products. This will guarantee a higher rate of conversion when they visit the site.
Step 8:
Use a welcome email to new subscribers, thanking them for joining, as well as letting them know what to expect. Include links to your most recent blog posts and to your social media accounts.
This will be the first email that they receive from you, so make it count!
Step 9:
Use popups to promote special offers or bonus offers without annoying people who don’t want to see them. You can also use these as a way to remind people that you exist, and they do have more options than just clicking the “X” button.
Step 10:
Create a sense of urgency. If your email marketing automation software has a way to alert subscribers of sales or new product releases, then go ahead and use it! How do you get people interested in something that they don’t know about? Well, first off, target the right audience. For example, if you sell jewelry, and are sending an email out about a 50% sale on all jewelry, then do not send it to people in Wisconsin – that’s a snowshoe kind of state. Make sure you have the right audience before you start sending out those emails.
Step 11:
Make your email enticements super targeted. Maybe you have a really cool idea for your subscriber list, but you need to make sure that they are interested in it. If that’s the case, send them a survey to let them know what your plan is and how they can get more involved in it. This will show people that you’re on their side and not just randomly emailing them things that they might not be interested in.
Step 12:
Create a social media contest to run on Facebook or Twitter that requires people to enter their email addresses in order to participate. This will work best if you’re using social media as a way to get new leads, such as offering free merchandise with an online purchase.
Step 13:
Offer a content upgrade in exchange for an email address. How does this work? Well, it’s actually pretty simple: You give them something free in return for their email address and ask for permission to send them more information that they would find valuable.
Step 14:
Make your users smarter with a knowledge base.
How does this work?
Let’s say that you have a few articles about how to get good at chess. You can make the articles really in-depth and include links to other sites where people can learn even more about chess. How do you get your readers’ email addresses?

The most important thing to remember with web-based marketing is to avoid making them feel like you’re trying to sell them something at all costs. You want them to look forward to entering their email address on your site, so they’ll be happy when you contact them later for business purposes!
